It offers free and funded emotional support, resources and community spaces for NICU parents. It does not provide one-to-one therapy. These sit alongside each other so families can access the type of support that feels right for them.

Therapy FAQs

Find answers to frequently asked questions about 1:1 therapy

Is therapy right for me?

Therapy is for anyone who feels impacted by what they’ve been through, whether that’s NICU, a difficult pregnancy or birth, loss, fertility struggles, anxiety or anything else in your life. You don’t need to be in crisis to seek support. Many people come because they want to understand themselves better, feel more stable or feel more like themselves again.

Do you only support NICU parents?

No. A lot of people find us because of our NICU and birth trauma expertise, but we work with anyone who feels their emotional wellbeing has been affected by pregnancy, birth, parenthood or life more generally.

It’s very common for therapy to begin with something NICU or parenthood-related and naturally move into past experiences, relationships, identity, work stress, self-esteem, attachment patterns and childhood history. We will always make sure your therapy reflects what you actually need.

Do I really need therapy if my baby is fine now?

Many parents struggle emotionally even when their baby is thriving. Therapy is for you, your wellbeing and your nervous system. Your feelings are valid, regardless of how your baby is doing.

Is it too late if NICU or birth trauma was years ago?

It is never too late. We do not have a cut-off. Many people seek therapy months or years later when they realise the experience is still affecting them or showing up in different ways.

What if I’m not sure what I need?

You don’t need to know. Your therapist will help you make sense of what’s been happening and decide together what would feel most helpful.

Do I have to talk about NICU or birth the whole time?

No. Therapy is about you as a whole person. We talk about whatever feels important: your emotions, relationships, identity, past experiences, day-to-day coping and the things that still feel heavy.

Do you work with couples?

Yes. Several of our therapists offer couples therapy. We may talk to you about whether it is best for you to be seen together or separately.

Are sessions online?

Yes. All sessions are online via Zoom, so you can access therapy wherever you are.

Do you work with couples?

I work individually, or with couples, I see men and women in my practice and try to be flexible in my approach to accommodate your needs.

Can my baby be with me during sessions?

Yes. We understand the practicalities of early parenthood and will work around what you need.

Can you match me with the right therapist?

Yes. Start by filling out our interest form and we will suggest the therapist who feels like the best fit for your needs if you don’t have a specific preference.

If you would like a short phone call before starting, you can request one with Frankie or the therapist.

Do sessions happen at the same time each week?

Usually, yes. You and your therapist will agree on a regular time that works for you. If you need something more flexible, just let us know and we can discuss options.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies. Some people want a short period of focused therapy and others prefer longer-term work. You and your therapist will review this together as you go.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a trauma therapy that helps the brain process overwhelming experiences so they feel less distressing. If you’d like to understand it in a simple, human way, you can watch Frankie’s EMDR highlight on Instagram at @miraclemoonuk.

Do you work in a neuroaffirming way?

Yes. Many of the parents we support are neurodivergent or suspect they may be. We work in an inclusive, flexible way that is sensitive to sensory needs, processing styles and pacing.

Do you take insurance?

Some of our associate psychologists accept insurance. Insurance appointments may have limited availability. Just mention this in the interest form and we can guide you.

How do I pay?

You’ll receive an invoice with a secure payment link before your session.

How much are sessions?

Sessions with associates are £150.
Sessions with Frankie are £170.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes long. If you would like longer sessions, you can discuss this with your therapist. Some clients choose 90-minute sessions for EMDR.

Are you a crisis service?

No. We are not able to offer crisis support.

If you ever feel at risk or need urgent help, please contact 999, your GP, or the Samaritans on 116 123.
