Today I’m joined by Bethan, founder of Advocates and Angels, a charity focused on making sure that no parents of children with complex needs have to fight alone to receive the care they need. After her daughter, Lydia, was born, Bethan’s family found themselves thrown into a system that wasn’t built for families like theirs. After Lydia sadly died aged four, the family experienced even more trauma on top which led to Bethan developing anxiety, depression and PTSD. When she realised that she couldn’t go on feeling this way, she reached out to me for EMDR therapy.
In today’s episode, Bethan shares all about the experience of receiving EMDR, how it benefitted her and why she was hesitant to start it in the first place. We also discuss her charity, Advocates and Angels, and the work they do to help other parents like them.
