For anyone working with parents and families before, during, or after neonatal care.
If you work alongside families who have been in neonatal care, antenatally, in the maternity unit, on the neonatal unit, in the community postpartum, or in the longer term, you'll know that this group of parents have specific needs that the broader system isn't always set up to know how to address or meet.
We know that 80% of parents leave the neonatal unit with some impact on their mental health, and up to 40% experience symptoms of post-traumatic stress. We know that the ripple effect of the neonatal experience on identity, relationships, work, parenting, emotions, and nervous system can last for years. As professionals, we often want to help. But knowing how to help in a way that is specific to what a NICU parent has actually been through is a different thing. This is for anyone who wants to do that better.
I'm Dr Frankie Harrison. I'm a Clinical Psychologist specialising in neonatal and birth trauma and perinatal mental health, and I'm a NICU parent too. I built Miracle Moon and The NICU Space CIC because I couldn't find the support I needed after neonatal care, and I've spent the years since working out what actually helps, clinically and personally. I want to share that with you.
Anyone who sits alongside a parent who has been through neonatal care and wants to do that better.

A structured, evidence-based CPD training programme for any professional with contact with NICU families, at any point in the journey. Whether you work antenatally, in the unit, at discharge, or in the community years later, this training will give you a deeper understanding of what the neonatal experience actually does to a family and how you can make a real difference. Register your interest below to be first to hear when it launches.

Does your team work with NICU families and want to feel better equipped to support them? I offer bespoke training sessions tailored to your team's role and context, covering the emotional and psychological impact of neonatal care, what trauma looks like in this population, how to communicate in a trauma-informed way, and how to reduce harm and support recovery. For neonatal units, charities, health visitor teams, antenatal educators, and anyone working regularly with this group of parents.
Working alongside families in neonatal care is emotionally demanding. Reflective practice gives teams a structured, facilitated space to process the impact of the work, think through complex cases, and build a more trauma-informed approach together. Available for neonatal and perinatal teams.
If you're supporting a parent who has been through neonatal care and you're not sure how best to help, or if you want to think through how to incorporate neonatal trauma awareness into the work you do, I offer one-to-one and small group consultation. For therapists, counsellors, charities, peer support organisations, and other professionals.
