Health anxiety & the divide between NICU and home with a sibling - Enya | S3E56

A really hard part of being in NICU is trying to balance being there for your newborn baby, making sure you understand everything that’s going on for them and advocating for them – with your other children back at home who need their mum too. Today’s guest, Enya went through that exact experience when her baby Roisin was born at 28 weeks, and she still had to be mum to her toddler Saoirse at home.
That juggle is something a lot of parents can relate to, as well as experiencing health anxiety – whether for yourself or for your baby. Enya’s health anxiety worsened after being in NICU with Roisin and she shares what she thinks helped in today’s episode.
Enya also has a big following over on TikTok and Instagram, and we talk more about why she chooses to document the journey she and her family have been through for other parents out there.
In this episode, we’re chatting about:
- Why Enya listening to her gut meant that baby Roisin survived
- How Enya handled having a toddler at home while her newborn was still in NICU
- Things that have helped and worsened Enya’s health anxiety
- Why Enya documented her NICU journey – and why it’s not over even though they were discharged months ago
- What Enya thinks support should look like after NICU
